Adam Motenko, Josh Motenko and Mike Minkoff react instantly to Marcus Smart’s new contract extension. Smart signed a reported 4-year, $77.1 million contract extension that will kick in after this season. We like the deal, but discuss how it impacts the salary cap going into the year Bradley Beal becomes a free agent.
Josh suggests Smart’s “77” number is lucky and Adam walks back his comments on the Celtics ownership group’s willingness to spend into the luxury tax as some of the least wealthy owners in the league.
The guys move on to discussing Dennis Schröder’s signing and role on this team including current preferences for starting lineups. Is Schroeder coming off the bench?
Conversation moves to reactions to Summer League at this point including looking ahead to the championship game. Could Juhann Begarin or Yam Madar accept a 2-way contract with the Celtics?
Finally, the Pride guys discuss their hopes for the rest of the offseason with a focus on a desired consolidation trade with the end of the bench. Lastly, congratulations to listener @ChrisCKerr for correctly guessing Josh’s trivia question about the last player to wear Celtics green with the name Bruno. Listen to the end for the answer. @ChrisCKerr now deserves the adoration of all Celtics fans for his Celtics PRIDE level knowledge of the Celtics.

About Celtics PRIDE Podcast: Co-Hosts Adam Motenko, his identical twin brother Josh Motenko, and their friend Mike Minkoff couldn’t stop talking about the team. Now they supply your need for Boston Celtics content with their regular podcast on CelticsBlog.
They will talk nerdy to you, dissect the players on and off the court, and bicker like only opinionated New Englanders can. It’s like if CelticsBlog made a BasketballJones / Dunc’dOn lovechild.
You will get the coach’s perspective, the capologist’s view, and a healthy dose of advanced and traditional stats that breakdown everything that happened and could happen with the #1 dynasty in the NBA. If you often find yourself reminiscing about the players you grew up watching, or you just need reminders about what “being a Celtic” means to you, this is the podcast for you. This is Celtics PRIDE!
