We’ve already heard a lot of former Celtics names attached to Boston in the rumor mill. Here’s one more that I’m personally excited about.
Boston, I’m told, has interest in an Isaiah Thomas reunion, with new Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens known to be one of Thomas’ biggest fans.
Bring back IT!!!
Now, before we get too carried away, this isn’t confirmed. Also, we’re not talking about the former MVP candidate that he was at the height of his tenure in Boston. I think enough time has passed that most understand that ship has sailed.
However, as a sparkplug scorer off the bench, Isaiah Thomas certainly could provide some value.
Plus it would just feel so good to have him back in Boston. He poured out his heart and soul for this team and these fans. Trading him away was a business decision that sorta made sense at the time but didn’t feel right. In the end it kind of blew up in our faces in some respects but also saved us from the worst injury riddled years of Thomas’ career.
Bringing him back to Boston wouldn’t undo any of the past, but would just feel right karmically and would be a low cost option to add veteran scoring punch to this team. Let’s give it a shot.
