Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Boston Celtics are signing Theo Pinson to their training camp roster:
Free agent G Theo Pinson will go to training camp with the Boston Celtics, sources tell ESPN. Pinson spent parts of his first three NBA seasons with the Nets and Knicks.

Pinson is a three-year NBA veteran. Pinson played his first two seasons with the Brooklyn Nets. He spent the 2020-21 season with the New York Knicks on a Two-Way deal.
In 68 regular season NBA games, Pinson has averaged 2.9 points in 9.0 minutes per game.
In two seasons with the Long Island Nets, Pinson proved to be a capable all-around player at the G-League level. Pinson averaged 19.6 points, 6.1 rebounds and 5.9 assists in 43 games (all starts).
With considerable depth at the wing position, the 6’5’’ Pinson faces an uphill battle to make Boston’s roster out of camp. It’s likely the Celtics will take it easy with Jaylen Brown, who recently said he hopes to be cleared for the start of training camp. But Ime Udoka still has at least six other wings in front of Pinson, and that’s before you start counting swing players who also play as ballhandlers or bigs.
Pinson has one more year of Two-Way eligibility, making it possible his deal could be converted at the end of the preseason. If his deal is not converted, Boston will likely try to get Pinson to the Maine Celtics of the G-League as an Affiliate Player.
Pinson’s addition bring the Celtics training camp roster to 19 players. Boston still has one open spot.
