Udoka: "Don't blame me!"

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm pretty tired of Udoka scapegoating his players and saying they are heartless and lack mental toughness. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I think coaches should praise their players publicly and scold them privately; credit the players when they win and take the blame when they lose. I thought that was coaching 101.

I thought well coached teams reflected the character of their coach - if this team is "heartless," what does that say about the coach? In the postgame show, both Chris Forsberg and Kendrick Perkins questioned the coaching of this team. Maybe it's time this coach looked in the mirror at himself. Maybe Brad Stevens should talk publicly about the coach the way the coach talks about the players. But we know he would never do that - it's a violation of team loyalty.

I have never heard Bill Belichick openly criticize his players the way Udoka does. Belichick says, "We all need to do better and it starts with coaching better." Udoka has to hold himself accountable first, but I don't think he has the self confidence to do that.

My fear is that we change the roster and keep the coach. This team is not improving and that's on the coach.
