Brad Stevens Should Do This

It may feel harsh but the Ime Udoka hiring was a mistake; which is tough to admit if your Brad Stevens because it was the biggest move he has made as GM. What should he do about it now? Here are two things he shouldn't do:

1. He could do nothing; after all, doing something would just put on a spotlight on him and who would want that?

2. He could make a coaching change but this would surely cause a lot of problems down the road.

Here is the one thing Brad Stevens can and should do. Hire a veteran assistant coach with NBA head coaching experience who would take responsibility of the offense and provide Udoka with a strong mentor on the bench. An assistant who could help Udoka manage game time adjustments. One who could implement offensive schemes that actually take advantage of having both Tatum and Brown on the court at the same time. An assistant who prepares the team in situational basketball and has a plan for finishing games. An assistant who could help Udoka better handle post game interviews. Don't ask me to name possible candidates for this job, but Stevens has connections and should be able to identify the right person.

Such a move would certainly help the team and may save Udoka's coaching career. He has a lot of learning to do if he is to survive much beyond his first season.
