striking evolution of events

It's amazing how necessary each step seems to have been in the rise of this team.

1) Danny Ainge deserves much of the credit for building this roster, yet it WAs necessary that he move on.

2) Brad Stevens was a great coach for most of his tenure, but they had to move on from him, the players had tuned him out, and Brad has made the right decisions as GM to bring this to the next level\

3) Horford had to leave and come back.

4) the team had to get crushed in the first round last year in order to grow the way they needed

5) none of this happens if they didn't have a super-easy schedule in January.

6) Ime seems to be a brilliant coach and the RIGHT coach for this team

Ainge: the Nets trade to acquire picks, the Tatum, Brown and Smart picks, the trade with Philly....excellent. He missed on Yabusele, James Young, possibly Langford. I still think Nesmith might pay off. But where he struck gold was Robert and Grant Williams. Pritchard is a nice hit too.

Stevens made brilliant moves with Kemba Walker/Horford, Derick White. He made the right decision to jettison Richardson and Schroeder. Theis was a solid move too, and that has paid off at times.

The team has not won a title and may never. Nothing is automatic. Look at the Nets, or the Suns. NBA history is littered with also-rans. But the team is now in the position to potentially compete for titles for several years. Other than Horford, they're all still young and on an upward trajectory. And if they reach the finals, Boston now becomes more appealing for veterans looking for a place to chase a ring.
