Note: Yes, I did an image search for “Boston Celtics” and “food” and the above picture popped up. I believe that is from when Jayson Tatum was newly drafted and doing a food tour around the city. This works for me because it involves food and it highlights something I’m very, very thankful for. Danny Ainge drafting Tatum after passing on the consensus number one guy Markelle Fultz and trading back behind the Lakers (Lonzo Ball) was just a franchise altering moment.
I could go down the list and talk about drafting Jaylen Brown, signing Al Horford, hiring Brad Stevens to be the coach then hiring him to be the GM and all the moves he’s made since then.
But I’ll just sum up and say that I’m thankful to be rooting for an NBA contender that happens to be sitting at the top of the standings (side note: what an odd phrase to be “sitting” anywhere on something called “standings”).
I’ll now skip right to the part where I give the mushy dad speech at the table and the kids roll their eyes but deep down it makes them feel warm and loved.
I’m thankful for this blog and all the many, many people that make it happen every day. So many talented writers, so many wonderful people, such an amazing community to be a part of. And all of you readers and commentors are a huge part of that as well. A big part of starting this blog nearly 20 years ago was to reach out and find Celtics fans after I moved away from the area. Little did I know that I was tapping into a huge reservoir that would continue to overflow my cup with friendships and community connections that would change my life.
So yeah, thank you all for being awesome. Enjoy your holiday with family and friends and know that you are loved and appreciated. And please share what else you are thankful for in the comments down below!
